May 13, 2012
Rhenock, 11 May Manmaya Rai (70), resident of remote Bijuwa village, under Regu Gram Panchayat Unit had been bed-riden for 7 months after being infected with a skin disease. The indifferent attitude of her son Chatur Singh Rai and the neighbours toward the pathetic condition of Smt. Rai had left her with no hopes of a cure. It was until after Zilla Panchayat member of the area, Dhan Kumar Chamling took the trouble to reach the residence of Smt. Rai after a three-hour walk from the nearest motorable road that her situation changed for the better. Panchayat Member, Dhan Kumar Chamling informed the Panchayat Secretary and the doctors at the primary Health Care centre about her problems. He directed the doctors at the PHC to provide immediate medical attention for Manmaya Rai. Under the vigil of Chamling and Panchayat Secretary, Dr. Rashmi Gurung checked the condition of Manmaya Rai and dressed her sores. Dr. Rashmi Gurung after careful examination of the health of Mrs. Rai has suggested that the patient’s blood pressure is extremely high and that she needs immediate medical attention at some bigger hospital.
